The Mersey Care NHS Charity

About us

As the dedicated charity for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, we support our specialist mental health and community services do more to fund enhanced support, projects, and services usually outside the scope of the NHS.

Together, we believe we can enhance and exceed expectations of the health, care and wellbeing available to the people we serve; helping the NHS go further.

Offering specialist services in physical and mental health, learning disabilities and addictions services; your support will allow us to improve care and facilities for patients and communities across Cheshire and Merseyside, helping us to fund innovative projects and developments that can tackle health inequalities, challenge stigma and enable our specialist mental health and community services to do more.

With support, funding has allowed us to provide wellbeing packages for children in care, fund ZSA suicide awareness training and make therapeutic sensory gardens and spaces for patients working towards recovery to go home. Funding has furthermore allowed us to set up a monthly support group for Young Onset Dementia patients, host interactive and creative spaces for children and young people to write about their experiences after COVID, and provide support for foster carers and parents to understand teenage emotions.

But there is still so much more we can do to make a difference in the lives of our patients and service users within our communities.

1. We want ZERO suicide

We support the education and awareness surrounding mental health and suicide prevention to empower change within our communities. Through the Zero Suicide Alliance, we want to empower, educate, and equip individuals and organisations to support suicide awareness and prevention.

2. We want equal health and a life beyond services

We want to extend innovative social support and recovery programmes to address social inequality, increase confidence, skills and connection to all and promote recovery beyond services within our communities. We want to develop new, innovate and collaborative social and community-based models to improve health, promote recovery and address further social factors such as housing, education, employment and social connection that can lead to heath deterioration.

3. We want to enhance our support for our carers

We want to develop services that can help improve the emotional and physical wellbeing of carers within our communities We want to offer further support within our partner carer centres and offer practical resources and equipment for carers for their own self care.

4. We want to reduce the pressue on NHS staff

We want to support the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers by launching wellbeing initiatives such as the 'Wellbeing on Wheels' tour, and by introducing experiences such as mindfulness and much more.
